Why clean energy is important

--

Switching to cleaner, more environmentally friendly energy sources is one of the most important steps humanity needs to take in order to secure a healthier, and safer planet. But what exactly is clean energy? In short, it is energy that comes from renewable sources which don’t produce any emissions that would harm the atmosphere. It also includes the amount of energy saved when we utilize energy efficient measures.

In this blog I will be focusing on different sources of clean energy such as solar and wind energy. I will talk about how they work, how they are currently being used, and how we could go about further developing them so we can gradually start to rely on them more and replace fossil fuels. I will also discuss carbon-based energy sources like coal, gas, and oil and how exactly they are damaging the environment through the emission of greenhouse gasses. The continued use of them is not sustainable as these are not renewable sources. Through better understanding the nature of these energy sources, over time we will more efficiently be able to see how we can apply the clean sources to our everyday lives while gradually replacing the harmful ones. We will also have a better understanding of the processes and investments that would need to be made in order to ensure that this happens.

As a member of the human race and resident of planet earth, it is not that hard for me to have a vested interest in this topic. Climate change is a force that poses an enormous threat to all of us. Making the switch to cleaner sources of energy wouldn’t completely put an end to it, but it would massively reduce the potential deadly effects it could have in the future if we did nothing about it. Just about every living creature on earth would benefit from the increased use and development of clean energy. Not only would we be making the planet safer, and more sustainable for future generations to come, but we’d also be saving many of the endangered ecosystems and species. There would also be an industry surge with the addition of countless new jobs in the clean energy sector.

There’s three big questions that I’m looking to answer in this blog. First, what will it take to achieve a shift to clean energy? This is probably the most important question of the three as it delves into how this will get done. Second, when will realistically start to see this happen? It is important to keep note of the timeline so we can set expectations. Lastly, what would a world where this goal has been met look like? This is another important topic to delve into as showing just how much the planet can improve if we start making these changes may win a lot of people over and inspire them to do their part in working towards this.
